Our Story

Jennifer and Jeremy, the founders of Cubbington’s Cabinet, became interested in CBD when it drastically reduced the extremely difficult anxiety struggles of Cubbington’s big sister, Zada. Rescued from a bad breeder situation, Zada experienced a slew of daily battles with various fears and phobias for years due to early trauma. CBD rescued her from a daily regimen of custom-compounded pharmaceuticals, and helped her experience the fullness of life they always wanted for her,

While it was helpful for Zada, navigating the messy world of CBD was confusing and frustrating. Even with Jennifer’s PhD-training in research methodology and Jeremy’s knowledge of agriculture and cannabis, figuring out what was actually in these many different products, and what they would actually do for their beloved pup, was challenging. They quickly realized there was a significant need for reliable, trusted brand names offering consistent, high-quality, third-party tested product in this fast-growing but unregulated retail environment.

Cubbington’s Cabinet soon came into focus. It was named for Zada’s gregarious adopted younger brother Cubbington who loves the spotlight and cannot help himself from coming to the rescue of others.

A self-funded, Chicago-based, woman-owned business, Cubbington’s Cabinet will sell their own line of premium quality products for people and their pets through a unique storefront experience and ecommerce website inspired by Victorian-era design and vintage apothecaries of the early 20th century.

They are eager to share their mission to improve the quality of life for people and their pets by providing a trustworthy source for carefully curated, lab-tested wellness products created by socially responsible businesses led by women and people of color. Cubbington’s will also donate a portion of their profits to charitable organizations, with a special focus on pets. They take the idea of community seriously and look forward to contributing to the vibrancy of the neighborhood of their first store in Roscoe Village, Chicago, Illinois. If you are in the area, be on the lookout for Cubbington himself, their lovable, 120-pound “Brand Ambassadog” -- this rescued gentle giant loves making new friends.
